I don't remember for sure how it was done (holding the symbol key????), but on my old Moto phone I could have the keyboard display a 10 key type layout for numbers. Is there a way to do that with the standard Verizon S4 keyboard (or an optional keyboard)?
SwiftKey does this. The main keyboard is QWERTY (with numbers obtained by long pressing on the top row) but there is a 123 button which switches the layout to a numeric keypad layout with the ten digits in a grid plus some punctuation to its right.
I really like SwiftKey. It has quickly become very good at guessing my next word so I can often write simple messages by picking a lot of the suggestions (often more than half for really simple things). It also has a fair few skins to changes its appearance. It isn't free but I think its only a couple of quid and it's worth it.
