Help 100% cpu

I'm having a problem where I suddenly find that the phone is consuming 100% CPU at the maximum 1024Mhz for no apparent reason. I have 3 monitors installed and they all say the same: CpuNotify, SystemPanel Lite (SPL), and Android System Info (ASI). Neither SPL nor ASI are capable of saying what application or function is the consumer. ASI shows between 4 and 11 % for the Android System, and around 40% for ASI, which is far from the 100%. SPL shows similar values. Well, I guess Android is presenting these values to the apps, so they should be the same. I'm suspicious about the YouTube app, or perhaps the Adobe Flash Player, as I have the feeling the problems starts after I've been watching "moving pictures" so to say. In any case, a reboot of the phone seems to be the only way out. Does anyone have an idea how to more precisely determine what might be causing this?

known bug, enable debugging mode and it should resolve mostly...

Thanks again, but things are still not fully clear to me: First, what do you mean by 'known bug'? Where can I find more information about that? Second, will your suggestion about activating USB debugging prevent this problem from happening, or what is the purpose of this action?

I have this problem too. I'm running a custom Froyo ROM on an Epic. The phone randomly seems to hang. Android System Info and SeePU show 100% CPU usage, but ASI doesn't show which process. I'm guessing it's something in the Android OS itself. The problem seems to occur when I change WiFi networks, although it's just a feeling I have.

In any case, I'll try enabling USB debugging and see if it prevents the problem. USB debugging lets you access your phone using a computer with the Android SDK. See: /INIT process Desire HD lag problems...SOLVED ! See post 1 - xda-developers.

By the way, when your phone hangs, you can reboot quickly by holding volume up, power, and camera (at least on my phone). That way you don't have to pull the battery.
