100 Gig Free Cloud Storage

How long do they keep files on the free version? The paid version says it doesn't delete your files. I assume they delete files on the free version?

I had to sign an agreement not to kill zombies that came to my home. Not sure why.

I did see something that says that if you're account remains inactive for 90 days, it gets deleted. So there's something to consider.

Well it said it may get deleted. If I don't upload something for 3 months I'm probably dead anyway.

I was looking through the tour thing and normally you start with 5gb. I'm not sure how long the 100gb special lasts.

The deletion of account would be for free accounts ONLY. Paid accounts can be dormant, as long as you're paying.

Here's the bit that bugs me: you can earn 30% of all paid accounts you refer, which is great... but they won't pay out until you've accumulated $100 in credit. That's a lot of referrals or repeat payments on $9.95 accounts. You would think that they could PayPal it at $25 or something.

Ah well, for $10/mo for 1 TB of cloud storage, that's a great deal... IF the company remains viable. Problem is, according to the terms, they could shut down without notice and suddenly you can't get to your stuff. That would not be good. Is Shared a viable company?

shared.com has been around for a while. Or am I thinking of 4shared? Not nearly as long as Rapidshare, but Rapidshare has changed. We used to all use Rapidshare back in the day, but then when they started changing and putting restrictions was about the time I looked into my own server. After several years of repairs and since the files I used to host are about obsolete now, I dropped my own server and use copy.com a tiny bit. Still not the same as being able to share your whole collection in a directory listing, though.

But I'm gonna give this one a shot and see how it works. Better than dropbox and copy so far since I don't have to 'mirror' the files on my main HD; part of the reason I kept all my stuff on a seperate HD on my server.

Don't put anything on there that you really want to save or couldn't live without. If they close their doors you are SOL.

Many of these fly-by-nights have come and gone! And 100 GB is quite a lot!!!

I'll pass on this one!
