So I did a search and I dont find anything I looked for. So today I got a media message from a contact but under a different number but it still says there name. I use google voice for text just because I use my computer alot. But what is this huge number in the default messenger cause its not my contacts number... but it is at the same time??:eek:

It's just a 1 in front of the number.

Like dialing a 1-800 number. Those usually have 1-digits.

1 (3 digit Area Code) (3 digit central office code) (4 digit subscriber number).

1 (617)389-3191

so if I call that number back it will give me the same person even though its not my contacts number?

Sorry about the (very) late reply.

But yes, a 1 doesn't make a difference if it's dialed or not...at least not if you're dialing from a cell.

So if you dial 800-Comcast it'll work just as well as if you used a 1 in front of the 800 on a cell phone only.

With landlines, you have to dial the 1 to complete the call.
