14 Days Since Launch . . . Whose Keeping and Whose Returning Your Maxx?

5 days with phone, paid off contact 650 to keep my unlimited plan, not sure I will keep as while a nice phone, not that big an improvement over my RAZR maxx when it was working right, unfortunately my RAZR was having some issues that were getting irritating. The battery is really not that much different than my RAZR, camera is actually not as good, the big difference is speed/smoothness which is nice and what my RAZR was like before jelly bean upgrade. So wonder same issue happens going to key lime in 6 months? OK Google now while kind of neat, is something I can easily live without as I use my new nexus 7 tablet except for calls or running errands. The screen is better than RAZR but nexus 7 tablet is much better for video, surfing, reading. Unfortunately if I take it back, then have to make a claim on insurance for replacement RAZR for 100 and 35 restocking fee and hope the replacement works like my old one did.... Unlimited plan I need as I tether so much for my laptop, around 8 to 12 gigs month, both old and new maxx work nicely with foxfi

My Maxx HD definitely lost its fluidness with Jelly Bean. That occasional slowdown or stutter was annoying. The new Maxx hasn't so much as stuttered once. I'm very pleased.

EDIT: Even my Note II had the stutters. The Maxx beats them both hands-down in the general smoothness category. It's iPhone-like in that regard.

Ending up keeping Maxx as the smoothness/quickness is just too nice to overlook, not sure a refurbished Razr would have worked with jelly bean as that started my whole annoyance with the razr, got so bad it would just freeze when tying to do goog now search...I definitely think the extra ram helps...

This helps me. I have a sluggish RAZR MAXX and thinking of finally going for the new MAXX.

I was debating between the MAXX and S4 but battery and no dropped calls along with call quality are my top concerns

I am very satisfied with this phone. It is fast, does everything I want it to do and will take at least a year to learn all its capabilities. I have had it since release date. I will not list the pros like fantastic battery life, etc. but some of the cons I have noticed or heard about on several forums.
1. Separation of the case on some phones. Mine is tight and solid but if you are getting a new phone it would be wise to closely check the seam between front and back. If there is a noticeable gap request a replacement. It may, IMHO, be a case of the glue not curing yet so be careful when putting on cases or bumpers for a while Don't try to pry it apart to see what is inside.:) The battery is not accessible or replaceable. Also there is no micro SD card slot. There is a sim card slot you can get to by pulling out the volume buttons. RTFM. I took the time to print out the entire 70 page manual. I'm a little OC about reading it.
2. The camera is not SLR quality but will get better with future software updates. It is fine for my purposes and I no longer take my SLR on vacations with me. A phone camera is not meant for professional photography use.
3. Some of the docks meant for this phone quite bluntly suck. I Got the TYLT VU wireless charger desk dock and it is excellent. A little pricey but This is a Qi charger and should work well with future phones. I am using a generic car dock and the navigation works very well without the specialized dock.
4. No micro SD card slot. It has 32Gb internal which is plenty for me. I also have a Leef Bridge 32Gb flash drive, OTG cable and Thumb drives and a Meenova on order. If I want more music, books, movies etc. to take on vacation these work great.

IMHO this is the best of the new phones out there and I am sure I will still be enjoying it two years from now. YMMV

Did you do a Factory Data Reset after updating to Jelly Bean?

Did you try running in Safe Mode (disabling all the apps you added without uninstalling them)?

No but not really motivated to.. Lol,

I really want a new phone, so I deal with the sluggish issues of Google now and chrome, even dolphin acts slow.

I just want something new, I also found a crack I the bezel around the screen too, maybe I damaged something

Good luck.

I went from the Droid Bionic to the Droid Maxx and there was NO debate. The difference is phenomenal. I don't power off that often when I power on the Droid Maxx I am always astonished by how fast it happens.

I hope you're right, but we won't know if that is true until the updates actually arrive. It may be that the camera hardware is too crappy to overcome with software.

Did FDR twice, both types, did safe mode which helped it run slightly better till loading my apps back, finally gave up... No lag on new maxx, very quick/smooth plus screen is outstanding compared to RAZR, camera not that big a deal to me, I need timely stock updates, metal prices, tweets thru texts, calendar alarms, Internet access and email... Really think extra ram helps and faster processor.
