What did you really expect from the local police tho? Assuming like most of these scams, they originate outside the US they have no jurisdiction. And federally it is not worth the time, money, or effort to bust even a small ring of scammers.
It is cool to try to help stop others from not getting scammed and bring some justice.. but it is really a lost cause.
