16 GB internal plus 16 GB microSD equals ??

I"m thinking about buying a used infuse 4G in the next month, but have a question on how storage works on the phone.

If I add a 16 GB microSD flash card to the device, how does the device recognize and use the storage ? When I mount it in windows, do I get TWO drive mappings? One for the int 16 GB, and one for the 16 GB microSD? or is it consolidated?

When connected as a USB mass storage device I see two drives.

Also, using Astro File Manager on the phone I see a folder called "external_sd" or something like that amongst the other folders for the internal storage.

I don't know if there are cases (apps) where the space is seen as one large area, but for the most part I believe it is not. Someone may be better able to explain how Android uses storage.

They are seperated, but the external one is found in the main memory under external sd or somtin. Cm7 is flipped lol.

Cool, thanks all.

Still haven't found one yet. But i'll keep that in mind.

For the moment i'm using an ACER LIQUID with 2 GB of storage.

This is the way the phone's media structure is handled:

Phone's internal Memory
|___ "SD Memory" (Actually the phone's internal, onboard 16GB)
|___ "external_sd" (the ACTUAL microSD card)

So the "SD Memory" directory has an "external_sd" subdirectory you can reach through file management software as a virtual folder.

Kinda wierd to get used to at first, but you'll get it.
