Root [1st Gen] Can't get past boot screen

No matter which ROM I try to install for the Kindle, it won't get past the boot screen. Is there something I'm missing?

I can tell you what you missed because I did the same thing...

You didn't do the system wipe likely.
I bet you did dalvik and the cache and missed the big one

Always use TWRP as your recovery, and always Factory Reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe system.

Only time you can get away with wiping caches is with nightly builds, like twa_priv releases a new CM10 build every couple days or whatever, then no data wipe is required, but when changing roms you absolutely need to do a full wipe.
