Root [1st Gen] rooting changes???

Stoopid question, but I know that everyone says to root the kindle fire to "turn it into a tablet". Here's my question: Besides google play, what specifically would rooting and/or installing a rom on my kindle fire 1st generation change to "make it more like a tablet" (basically, features)??? In other words, What are the differences between a tablet & the Fire 1st gen that can be remedied?

several things can be done to make the kindle more pure android
change the launcher, which is the user interface
access to the google play store
If you really want to change it install a custom rom like cm10
and there are many added futures like google now
but whether you will like it better or not, depends on what you want and how you use it

Once you're rooted, with TWRP or CWM recovery, you can flash any version of Android you would like. Basically, this would turn your Kindle Fire into a true Android tablet, and remove all of the annoying "Amazon" branding. The homescreen would look like what you are used to seeing on any Android smartphone that has the latest Android build on it. You don't necessarily have to install the latest and greatest either. You can install a Gingerbread ROM, an Ice Cream Sandwich ROM, or a Jellybean ROM. I just flashed CyanogenMod 10.1 (Android 4.2.2) on my Kindle Fire, and it runs perfectly, there are absolutely no bugs at all.

Can you tell me how to root a Kindle fire 2nd gen with version 10.4.6 on it because I'm having problems locating instructions for doing this. All I want to do is get rid of the POS Amazon bootloader and rom and put a clean version of Android most likely the 4.2.2 Ice cream sandwich.

Thanks for any help you or anyone her can give me.

Two things: firstly, 4.2.2 is Jellybean, secondly, I don't believe 2nd Gen is rootable yet but I can do some research.

Anyone have any news on this!? I've been trying for MONTHS to get my Gen 2 Kindle Fire rooted. We got it Christmas last year and after I got super annoyed with the way amazon branded it so heavily I started looking for a way to root this sucker. I have watched a ton of youtube videos and I have read all the threads I can find not only on here but over on xds as well. Nothing seems to work. Personally if there is a way to root the first gen and the HD then why can't there be a way to root the second gen?? It makes no sense! I really hope that someone has come up with a method to root this sucker. It would save some money from buying a true android tablet.
