If you already have the official 2.1 you don't need to flash any tar for livewallpapers.

Live Wallpaper for 2.1 (WORKING!), 3D N1 Drawer (Working with some issues.)

Try it and we'll go from there.

From the link:

- Download this zip file and place it in the root of your SD card (drag it to the card).
- Power off your phone.
- Boot into recovery mode (press volume down + call + power).
- Apply the zip from the SD card using that recovery mode menu option.
- Reboot. You're done!

Also, here are a couple of live wallpapers to try. Many others are on the market - most for free.

Starfield
Matrix

Thanks but those were the original instructions i followed and im still getting the same error message that i stated above... i have no idea what im doing wrong.

I cant get it to do the swupgrade again. I have the official 2.1 from sprint and that is all so far. I was able to root my pre so easily, but this has me stumped. I

I did download the recovery and put it in the c file on the computer but that is as far as I can get it to go. please help!

I was having trouble installing the recovery after flashing as well. You need to go in and uninstall all instances of the installer and delete the "samsung electronics" folder from your program files directory.

After that reinstall the original SWUpdate and it'll let you flash recovery.

I actually tried it without the recovery tar and i keep getting the message:

E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

Any Ideas???

I am having the same issue momentman, how did you fix it?

please forgive me but I'm a total noob with moment droid,
I have the officail 2.1 update from sprint
- do I need to root the phone to get the live wallpapers if so is that what they mean by place it in the root of your SD card
- do I need Joeykrim Recovery Mode installed

No root needed for livewallpapers, you will need Joeys/newer recovery to install. Root of the SD card means to place it in the SD card directly, not in any folders in the actual SD card. Go from here and post back using the link I provided earlier.

Ok, so you don't need root, but you do need this recovery thing installed.

Is there an updated and concise set of instructions on that, rather than following multiple links to the latest, which includes several pages of discussion? I'm very wary of screwing up my phone by doing the wrong thing.

Thanks for that, Dreze. May give it a try.

What if I want to keep some of the stock apps? Is there a way to add them back?

Of course but why would you? :) This does not force you to remove any apps, it's there in case you want to. Once you flash everything to the newest build all the sprint crap is there. It's up to you to remove it if you wish. :)

Nevermind, finally got it to work...thanks again! These forums are the best! :)
Yeah I'm wondering as well...

This would be fine for the ones that want to get rid of all those things but I don't think every1 wants to or @ least I don't..(not all of them)..

I guess I really don't need live wallpapers that bad...

Everyone, you can stop after step 12 and it won't force you to remove ANY apps. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough but stop after step 12 if you want to keep everything and you're golden. :)

Ok, I get it now. The link that Dreze says allows you to create your own script will let you add/remove what you want. Pretty awesome, Dreze, thanks again.

Ok, I still can't get the recovery thing to work right. I think maybe I didn't install recovery 3.0.8 right? When I go into recovery mode, I see "Android System Recovery <2e>" and "Samsung Recovery Utils - for BML -".

Did I do something wrong?
