Help 2.2.2 fast, 2.3 slow. I'm stumped.

I have two Android phones - an older one running 2.2.2 and a newer one running 2.3.
When using the hotspot feature, 2.2.2 runs quite fast, 2.3 runs incredibly slow.

Using a broadband 600kb speed test...

2.2.2 took 3.67 secs,
Line speed 1.4 Mbps,
Download speed 182 kbps

But...
2.3 took 170 secs!
Line Speed 29kbps!!
Download Speed 4Kbps!!!!

In every other respect I find 2.3 is a great improvement. Anyone got an idea why this is happening? Any advice would be appreciated.

Is this always true? Are both phones running identical software? Are both connected to the same data network?

In this case 'always' has only been three days - which is how long I've had the 2.3 Huawei. But, yes, this happens every time I connect. As to software (apart from the Android versions) I really don't have anything else running - I'm a phone/sms/email/hotspot type user - and, yes, I'm using the same data network for both.

Are they identical phones, is really what I was asking? If not there could be the root of your problem - different manufacturers may have different 'bloat' on their phones contributing to the lack of speed or responsiveness.

What are the phones in questions?

All is now as it should be. I went back to square one and set it up again.
