2.2 problems - happy to be back on 2.1

Hi all,
I'm on T-Mobile UK and I upgraded my Wildfire to Froyo when it came out on the 25th December 2010. Since upgrading I saw a few minor benefits (tethering, Wifi hotspot, save apps to SD card etc, running apps etc) but the stock internet browser kept crashing loads, so too did Navigation and the Market app. The internet browser issue was the most irritating, it kept coming up force close on sites such as wikipedia, google searches, ebay, imdb or it would just disappear back to the desktop. I sent the phone away to HTC twice and both times they replaced the systemboard, Wifi chip etc and I still had the same problems. I eventually got a brand new replacement from T-Mobile after a lot of hassle and that came with 2.1. Since then the browser hasn't crashed once, it's been great! I've turned off updates as I certainly don't want the nightmare of 2.2 again and am scared to root the phone due to losing the warranty on it.
I have heard about lots of issues with 2.2 on the Wildfire and they have told me there should be an update soon to fix all these issues. I have an escalated case with HTC with lots of crash reports as well. Thing is I don't know whether to risk updating again as the hassles I had really put me off... thinking I can't go back to 2.1 again very easily...
