Help 2.2 when?

Got Kies latest. Been trying to get 2.2 but keep getting message that can't upgrade. At present I have PDA JF3, Phone JF3, CSC JE5.

Can I expect 2.2 to be available tomorrow, sometime, never?

Thanks

Some news on the update to Android 2.2 for the Samsung Galaxy S. Currently we are making some changes to get it working better when using Orange signal, and are therefore looking to release the update by the end of November – obviously this is a delay on our original release date but we hope it will be worth the wait!

The update will still be made available through the Samsung Kies PC application.

guess thats all weve got to go by it says end of november so im not hoping for it anytime soon just dont get your hopes up

Another one then...

My Galaxy was supplied by T-Mobile only it's not actually locked to their network - I've tested this with an O2 SIM.

Is it best I wait for the official t-mobile 2.2 release or could I actually get a generic but official 2.2 from elsewhere?

The early ones weren't network locked or heavily branded however are still tied to T-Mobile for updates.

Put the following code in the dialler *#*#1234#*#*

The CSC will be I9000XXXYYY Where XXX is your operator code. Mine is TMU, presumably T-Mobile UK.

You can flash with a generic ROM if you want. There should be plenty of threads about that lying around (search for odin)

well isnt it all we have to go by dont try to be smart about it

T-Mobile have repeatedly demonstrated that one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. So anything they say is pretty worthless.

I think it's also reasonable to pull you up on posting 6 week old, repeated 'news' on your first post.

Thanks Karnka. Yep you're quite right it is TMU. Probably a dumb question but if I get the update from T-mobile they can't actually lock it in can they?

I don't think they can sim-lock it. They can however brand it like mad. I expect to see at the very least a T-Mobile splash screen after the update is eventually out.

Hmm, interesting. I've got a T-Mobile SGS that was running 2.1. I did the registry hack when Samsung had that 2.2 up,and upgraded. Since then I've been able, via kies, to 'upgrade' to another version of 2.2. entering that code I get a CSC value of I9000XEEJP4...any idea what version I'm running?

cheers
Andy

XEE is the Scandinavian unbranded one I believe.

XEU is the UK unbranded one.

I think that's the right way round, someone correct me if not.

Head over to XDA Devs. There are plenty of guides there on going from various leaked ROMs to various other ROMs. You should be able to get sorted.
