Root 2.3.5 Update

My phone is rooted and I have the stock ROM.

Assuming that the DX2 will receive the 2.3.5 update at some point...will I have to SBF the phone back to stock before accepting the OTA update when and if it comes out?

If you're on stock now, then it would most likely update fine, and you'll just lose the root. BTW, there is already an update, the link is in the DroidX2 Custom ROMs sticky, it just hasn't been officially released yet. I would have tried it already, but it supposedly only barely differs from 2.3.4.

Actually, that update has been out for a few months. It's not official at all. Not sure when 2.3.5 will come out from Verizon if ever.

Yeah, it's not really official. It did come from Motorola, but it was ganked, not released.
I did run it, along with some of the 2.3.5 custom ROMs, but every one I tried had an issue with WiFi (not searching and finding WiFi points until I opened WiFi settings) and with data dropping here and there. Finally got tired of it, and went back to 2.3.4.

Same here. I went back to 2.3.4 stock.

Yeah, I had alot of issues with Eclipse over the holidays. I didn't have problems with Wifi but I did have other quirks such as the speakerphone not working, the camera was wonky, and battery life was crappy. I was out of town and really had to rely on the phone for alot of stuff and i reset it back to stock, rooted, and did my own freezing of apps via titanium backup and it still works much better. I love the look of the Eclipse/Liberty but haven't seen any benefits (improvements) of 2.3.5.

Anyone know how I can change the color of the top taskbar to black instead of Blue?

Well, I'm back on Eclipse 2.0.3. I just can't stop flashing!(That didn't sound right!)

In any case, apparently, my issue with WiFi was my router - it apparently was going out and then it finally died (Belkin - never again. Lasted about 2 months ). I now have a nice top-of-the-line Netgear router and it works flawlessly with 2.3.5. So, I went back to Eclipse 2.0.3 and I'm loving it. It works great, much better than the bloated stock.

But, CM7 is also on its way to the X2. They got 2nd-init working and such and they're getting close apparently, so I cannot wait for that ROM either. That should get us to a point of NO bloat and pretty much all AOSP which would be nice.

And of course, trend #OPMOSH on Twitter and let's get this bootloader unlocked! And sign the petition as well! It's over 4,000 right now.

lol.. yeah, i know what you mean. I might go back to Molten this weekend if I get too bored.. we'll see. It would be nice to get CM7 on here.

Definitely. They are working on it and it's getting closer, but patience is NOT my virtue! :o
