Help 2.3.6 terrible battery

John L

Newbie
Hi guys, My android 2.3.6 battery is truly awful, I have the brightness at 10%, I always have GPS off, Wifi off, Bluetooth off, auto rotation off. I also have auto sync turned off for all apps, RAM usage is only around 280mb. But when I go to the battery usage, it says that the display takes up around 40% of the battery, android system 2nd with 19% and android os 3rd with 11%, is this normal even if i have my brightness fully low? I downloaded JuiceDefenderUltimate the other day hoping that will fix it, but still the same:( it goes down 1% every 10-15 mins when im only texting, and goes down about 10% in 10-15 mins when on youtube or playing games. Any help would be grateful.
Also, if anyone knows of any OS that has a battery life please say

Thanks.

Screen will always consume the most battery... unless your screen is never on. Some versions of Gingerbread, Android 2.x, were not very battery friendly I'm afraid.

I would advise upgrading to ICS, Android 4.0.x, see, here.

Alternatively, you could stay on Gingerbread and do a Factory Reset which would clear your system of any rogue app's and settings.

You could just install a monitor, such as BetterBatteryStats and try and track down what your issues are.
