Help 2 app questions

1) With PDANet do I have to have to paid version in order to be able to actually look at any websites or anything? My net went out earlier so I tried to use it (USB Tether mode) and Skype worked but I couldn't get online in any game or on any website. It also seemed to be cutting in & out (since I noticed Skype would have me online then offline, then online etc).

2) Now that PowerAmp is up on my free trial I can't seem to use it whatsoever, so what is the best free music player for Android?

1. The free version of PDA Net won't access secured sites, so if you need to visit those, you'll have to pay up.
2. A lot of folks like WinAmp. Doesn't have the eye candy that PowerAmp does, but it supports of lot of music formats.

I couldn't even get to sites like speedtest.net :S PLUS it seemed like the connection kept going in & out.
