Help 2 Comps that will not recognize nexus 7...

Just bought this Nexus 7 today off my friend. He had just given it a factory wipe. I'm currently trying to connect this tablet to my computer via USB so I can drag some music over but it isn't being recognized by either of my two comps. One is a laptop with Windows 7, the other is a desktop with Vista, both 64 bit.

I've checked to make sure the WMP mode is enabled on the tablet. The tablet doesn't show up in the device manager. I've tried to install the driver but there's no automatic install. Any ideas?

Did you restart your computer after you installed the drivers? Google really wants you to use wireless file transfer. I use es file explorer and I have a network share on my computer that es will see and I can transfer everything straight from the tablet.

No, I wasn't able to figure out how to install the driver. I have the file usb_driver_r06_windows.zip that I downloaded from support.asus.com. The driver won't self install and I'm not sure how to do it manually.

Despite that, I find it very strange my computer isn't even recognizing a foreign device is attached, especially when the battery is charging on the Nexus.

Check to see if USB debugging in settings\Developer options is enabled. If it is, try disabling it. If it isn't, try enabling it. I've had this option mess up my USB connections before...
