Help 2 galaxies 1 owner and a sneaky alligator

I must first offer a preemptive apology if this is in the wrong place. I ALWAYS screw this up and post in the wrong place.... If I did it wrong, just tell me, no scolding, lol.

Ok. I got a new galaxy S3 with metroPCS the day it came out....it's still in 100% PERFECT condition because it has been in an otter box since day one. Anyway, 5 months after I bought it, (2 weeks ago), I was filming an alligator out in my backyard and I dropped it on the cement ramp leading to the man made channel......it scooted, ever so slowly down into the water, just 5 feet from the very LARGE gator I was filming. Needless to say, I did NOT try to grab it. I slowly watched, in PAIN, as it disappeared into the water, then into what I initially thought was the gator eating it. (I am absolutely convinced that he ate it.....)

So, I went in the house, devastated. All I could think of was the exorbitant cost of having to buy a new one.......painful thought.....Anyway, a few hours later, I discovered, quite by surprise, that I had that replacement insurance! yay! So, I made the claim and replaced the phone. (whew). End of story.............not quite......

All is great, then I get a call from some guy who says he found my phone while he was out fishing, THREE MILES from where it initially went into the water...... And even more surprising, he tells me that it works 100 PERCENT PERFECTLY FINE!! So, I guess the gator either swallowed it then spit it out, or he just submerged it and it just appeared to me, that he ate it......then it somehow floated down the channel to where that guy was fishing and subsequently discovered it. (yes, total 100 percent TRUE story, lol).......

So, I call the insurance company and tell them that I found it and asked if I could send back the other one. DENIED. They acted as though I was lying, or somehow trying to scam them. Then I offered to pay them the replacement cost (of a refurbished phone, of course) so that I could use it for my daughter. DENIED again. I don't understand this at all, I tried to be honest and do the right thing (after extreme guilt ate away at me for 4 hours)...... but whatever......

So, I am wondering, can I buy another, identical make/model on the same carrier and use THAT esn or IMEI number by putting the good parts from MY old (alligator molested phone) onto the phone with the good IMEI, or is that illegal? If it is okay to do, what part do I replace? Is it the motherboard that has the ESN/IMEI written into it? Yes, i know, I haven't too much knowledge about what parts are what.......I'm certain the question I asked has made that obvious.

Anyway, if anyone would be so kind as to tell me what, IF there is anything that I can do, I would truly appreciate it........
Yeah, I know, LONG story, but I felt compelled to include the gator details, just because it's just too amazing.....

Thank you!!!

Can i just very quickly say that i loved that story and thanks and if it gets removed or locked.. i swear on anyones life it wasnt me who reported it and good luck
I so wish we had alligator or any decent scary animal here :)

Well bearwhisperer, the lost phone that was replaced by the insurance is no good as far as ESN/IMEI is concerned.
And in my opinion, shouldn't be messed with.
You did the right thing trying to make things right with the insurance, and I commend you for that.:)

However, to be on the safe side and on the legal side, take your alligator phone and put a frame around it for a conversation piece :)

Just for your information and everyone else's info, we cannot and will not discuss bad esn/IMEI numbers here.

So, nothing personal o.k.?, and a great story, but this thread is closed.

Please p.m. me if you have any questions :)

And for the record, funky did not report it....I saw this all on my own. ;)
