2 Phone #s on 1 phone

Hi,

I run 2 businesses and need to have 2 phone numbers that both go to my android phone.

I was looking into Google Voice, but when someone calls your Google Voice number, it rings through to your phone like a normal call.

I need to differentiate phone calls (I need to know which number they called, since that tells me which business they called!)

Is there an app/program that can do this?

A dual sim phone would do it though I don't know how it distinguishes between which number is called and alerts you. I've never used one. Have you considered a smart phone and a dumb phone. You'll need two lines anyway. You can get a dumb phone free just about anywhere. Use the dumb phone for one line and the smart phone for the other line. Keep your calendar, contacts, etc.... on the smart phone. You could configure Google voice to forward calls to both phones so your voice mail would show up on the smart phone and you'd be able to call back with the Google voice number. If both phones ring, answer the dumb phone. If one phone rings, answer that one.

It might not be ideal but if you don't need to know the number of the incoming call you can set GV to show the incoming call as coming from the phone number of the cell phone....that way you at least know the call is coming is from some one who dialed the GV number.

Ahh.. good suggestions!

I was hoping I could just keep 1 phone for simplicity sake, but then again, it may be "simpler" to manage two phones. Wouldn't want to get confused over which phone # it was!

I think I will try out the GV Caller ID as the cell phone # first, and see if that's easy to manage. If not, the I guess I'll break down and buy a dumb phone.

If I make a call with GV from my smart phone, which phone number will the customer see (my normal smart phone # or the GV phone number)

If you use the GV app you can choose from 3 configuration settings:
1. Always call with GV - will show your GV number.
2. Always call without GV - will show your normal number.
3. Always ask - will pop up a choice to use GV or not for that call.
