Help 2 questions, landscape mode and display timeout

Loving this phone so far, just a couple questions. Is there anyway to force this phone into landscape mode on the home screen? I use my phone in the car and setup a temporary gps type dock, but it doesnt go into landscape mode, so i have to use the phone sideways to pull up apps, kind of annoying.

Also whats up with the display timer, theres no setting to keep it on, again this is for when im in the car, this phone has some great displays for playing music and want to keep the screen on when i can.

Menu / settings / display / auto rotate screen & screen brightness

I don't believe auto rotate applies to home screen, I'm sure ADW Launcher from the android market allows this, just go into settings & adjust scree rotate once you've installed it...

My personal opinion is that the home screen and widgets of the E4GT look rather fisher-price-ish so I installed Launcher Pro Plus. The widgets are much slicker and it will do what you want -- landscape mode on your home screen.

There are other options, of course. ADW and Go Launcher will also go landscape....

What about his second question regarding the screen timeout? This has been annoying me much lately. I, too, would like an option to keep the screen on while the phone is plugged into my charger in the car. Also, I like to use pdaNet to tether my phone to my laptop. However, when I plug it in and the screen times out, I get disconnected. I've tried using the KeepScreen app to keep the screen on, but it doesn't seem to be working. My old droid had an option under Settings->Application->Development to keep the screen on while charging. It appears that Samsung or Sprint has removed that option (or never added it). Does anyone have a fix to keep the screen on while charging? (I'm using the stock ROM and launcher atm)

GoLauncher will let you view the homescreen in landscape mode

My biggest issue with the screen, is when you manually turn off using the power button (to save battery life) it automatically locks the phone. If you have a lock set up the and hit the power button, it locks instantly. Th HTC phones options allow you to choose the time before the lock, Samsung only lets you choose the time when the screen automatically shuts off...HUGE ANNOYANCE! Is there an option I am missing? I dont want to have to leave my screen on for minutes to avoid this... :( After a few days of serious use on this phone, this is the major issue I cant get over.

I use a few programs that will solve all of the above issues except for the homescreen landscape question.

Nolock. This will allow your phone to go to sleep and be awakened with the lock function.

Quick Profiles. This will you to allow a one touch setting to set a profile to change any sound, screen, wallpaper, WiFi or Bluetooth settings. Build the profile once and then just select to go to your preset settings.

Plug In Launcher.

This will allow you to launch any application, disable any security lock settings, enable or disable WiFi or Bluetooth when connected to any or specific WiFi network, the USB is connected to a wall charger or usb charger, a headset is plugged into the phone or a Bluetooth device is connected.
