Since many of us have had battery issues, and seemingly half the threads on here are indeed about battery optimization, I thought I would share my recent experience with VZW customer service.

Backstory... Bought Motorola Droid, when it was the hot phone through VZW, price matched to Amazon's pricing. Kids decided that wet pool toys should be stored on top of phone. Phone went PSYCHO like this girl I dated in college. Being as the Droid X just came out, and the Droid 2 was about to launch, there was a big SNAFU with Assurion over which phone to give me. Motorola Devour, I think not!! After about 8 hours on my assistant's phone, VZW offered to get me the Droid Inc., and cover $45 of the insurance replacement cost, getting me into a Droid Inc. for $40.

Two and a half months later, here I am, frustrated as all get out about the battery life.

Call VZW customer service today, to say that I have a problem and am simply unsatisfied with the battery life of the phone. The rep that I spoke with was as helpful as could be, but limited to what he could do, which was just to send me the extended battery at retail price. After we talked for about six minutes, and him looking up my history, I asked to speak to a supervisor. The rep came back on the line, and said that VZW would cover 100% of the cost of the extended battery and battery cover. Total time on the phone, 19:23.

My extended battery is being shipped to me for free. I'm stoked.

YMMV, but it seems as though Verizon realizes that there actually is a problem with the battery life on our phones, especially coming from a BB, Moto, or other smartphone device.

Nice!! You will like the battery. I don't think the incredible has a battery problem. The battery is just too small.

I did the same thing. Verizon shipped it to me for free about 6 weeks ago.

I haven't even been using it because the extended door doesn't seem to attach right to the rest of the phone. It makes this annoying "creaky" noise when I touch it.

Hopefully you have a better experience with yours.

I can usually get from 9 am to 12 midnight on a single charge with no charging during the day. I work 9-6 in a stock room where I get 1 bar of 1x if I'm lucky. Usually by 6 I'm between 50 and 70 percent, depending on the day.

I use my phone for net and email throughout the day. most heavily for an hour on my break, and maybe another 2 heavy hours when I get home. By the time I plug in at night I'm usually at 20-ish %.

I do this with an 1800mah battery I got from eBay. I do have juice defender installed w/ data on for 30 sec every 5 min.

I also got the Chinese 2150mah battery, but will never use it. its too large.

Happy to hear you got a free battery. I am starting to think battery life is extremely subjective.

Got it and my Seidio Innocase Active today!

Posting up real quick before I go down to the workshop to mod the case to fit the extended battery, because it really does look and feel like my phone is pregnant.

Battery life is pretty subjective I guess, but I'm on mine CONSTANTLY. Usually I'm down to 20% or so by the time I leave work at 4pm, and that just doesn't really work for me, lol. That is with everything I can think of done to optimize battery life besides underclocking the phone. Juice Defender killing stuff, display at medium brightness, all radios off except for 3g, et cetera.

The battery door on mine doesn't creak at all, fits very well actually.
