Help *228 or Equivalent for GNEX?

I'm having some call quality issues and would like to reset the phones location/prl?

I recall using *228 in the past, but this does not seem to be working. Does anyone know how to run the equivalent reset on this phone?

Side note: my wifi is really weak. My incredible gets good signal in my office, but the GNEX connects and breaks and cannot hold the signal.

You should not EVER *228 a 4g phone. This can burn your sim card and you will have to buy another one. Luckily, they are only $5. If you are having call quality issues, you should reset your phone, or do a factory reset if that does not help.

Yes your sim card is what activates this phone.

That way if someone steals your phone and tries to use their sim card, it will not work.

A VZ rep told me today to turn airplane mode on for a moment, then back off and that does the same thing as *228 for 3G phones. I get my gnex tomorrow so I haven't tried it yet.

I called CS about this and she said that *228 does not work on 4G. She said roaming is updated when the SIM card is removed and inserted again...

*228 no longer is a viable working option for 4G LTE phones. That was meant for 3g networks. It should just fail if you try to do it on an LTE device. The 4g sim cards use the surrounding towers to constantly update the roaming info, so you don't need to do this anymore.

When I travel I like to update the roaming dialing *228 but with the Nexus I get a "Call Not Sent" every time. Is this a bug or does it have something to do with being an LTE phone?

Now I know...and knowing is half the battle! GI JOE!

Seriously, thanks for the info.

VZ told me to power down, remove and reinsert the sim card to force a PRL update (if one is available) on my Thunderbolt. Don't know if this is true for the GNex, or even if it was true on the 'bolt, but that's the info i was given.

lol, i was wondering about this too. I was getting the same message. Us VZW folk are not used to having sim cards, so it is good to understand this.

Anyone else having an issue of not being able to dial *228 to update roaming capabilities? It just says "Call Not Sent". I can make calls anywhere else. Weird

Sorry. Thanks for the info. Just out of curiosity, why when I do a search forum and type *228 for threads or posts, it returns no results?

As far as I know you cannot use *228 on an LTE phone even if you're only utilizing the 3g band. It's still using a 4g MicroSIM. The phones handle the tower location updating (roaming) automatically now.
