*228 update here or there?

I an going out of town (into the mountains to be exact) on a trip soon. Service is spotty at best.
I wonder if I should *228 here before I leave or do it at the last known good service area closest to my destination? Or does it even matter where I do it at?

i think what matters most is HOW you do it

It shouldn't matter, *228 just updates your list of towers. It's like downloading a text file here vs downloading a text file there, pretty much.
