Help 24 months in, Desire Housekeeping tips?

Hmmm, if you did factory reset you wouldn't lose any Android OS updates.

Every tip I try think of involves being rooted.

Root the phone and install something new. I did mine about a month ago and haven't stopped playing since. I'm currently running CM7 ... and it works very well.

If you want a new phone and as you are out of contract the best thing you can do is threaten to leave tmobile. Ask for your PAC and see if they offer you a better deal. Even if they don't you have nothing to loose (and requesting the PAC doesn't mean you have to use it - it expires after 30 days and your rolling contract continues).

Hi

Have had my desire since autumn 2010 and have just rooted it and installed a ROM. Mainly because of memory shortage and general poor performance of the Froyo update which I got from Orange France.

Now have Redux 1.2 ( in itself quite an old ROM) with the apps to SD and dalvik to SD options and have a superb phone with lots of free memory (80Gb free with 261 apps installed)

Go for it! (But read all the guides and faqs on this forum before doing anything)

Thanks guys...off to read up on rooting :)

Also, thanks for the tip about getting T Mobile to honour my contract :)

Yeah read it all, it is a lot to take in but me and many others are happy to help.
Just makes it easier if you read it then ask if you don't understand something.

"If you ask a question that you think is stupid you will only feel stupid for a moment.
Don't ask that same question and you will never know the answer, thus feeling stupid for a long time"

Something I heard somewhere and it stuck.

Good luck!

Agree with all said before. My only addition would be to look at GiffGaff if you are out of contract. Their offer is hard to beat and there is no contract to tie you down.
It was recommended to me by others on here and I don't regret it.
