$25 for a spare battery? Pass...

Boy, I checked e-bay today for a couple spare batteries, and one with a charger is going for $25, HA! With my EVO I ordered two batteries and a charger for about $5 shipped. The batteries were great! They didn't last quite as long as the factory battery, but nevertheless for $5. Humm...I wonder how long before we see these cheapo's for the Galaxy.

PS- I ordered a cheapo hard rubberized case on e-bay for $5.95 shipped. Until something good comes out...

It will be awhile before cheap Chinese knockoffs come out on this battery. It is a new battery for Samsung, and one of the largest standard batteries out there. Hopefully, it won't be too long. If Samsung starts making more models with this battery, out will help.

No one is crying here, brother. I tend to keep one or two in my car, one on the boat and one in my computer bag. The 'cheapo' batteries are great. If you loose them you just grab a couple more off e-bay.
 
Pay the extra $10 and be careful? I have 3 spare batteries and two Epics, I haven't lost one yet. I would rather have OEM than cheap crap.
 
I've heard horror stories about the cheap batteries catching fire. Not sure if that's urban myth but they make me feel wary!

LOL! :D Thanks. I've never had any issues with the cheap batteries for my EVO. I was quite surprised with how well they worked, to be honest. If I recall it was $5-7 bucks for two batteries and a wall charger. :cool:

Cheap batteries for the Evo were great. The same battery worked from the HTC Touch on through to the Evo Shift. I think the reason prices are so low is that so many phones used that battery and the Evo was so popular.

And btw, $25 for a battery is steep if you compare it to the price of $100 some paid for the Epic 4G Touch. One quarter of the price for the phone can appear to be pretty costly.

I'm going to pick one up simply because I don't think the price will lower dramatically in the next few months. It's better than paying Samsung's price.

And as for batteries blowing up, it is possible. But if you stick to a reputable seller with some history on eBay, you can see that he has a good Chinese supplier.

True. I spoke too soon! Just checked ebay again and there is a seller with 3 batteries and a charger for $30. However he is a new seller.

Come to think of it...the battery life is much better on this phone than the EVO. So a guy could certainly just have one spare OEM battery and a wall charger and be fine. We'll see how this unfolds, haha.
