$25/Month VM Beyond Talk Plan

It seems to have worked on my wife's account, though I'll find out for sure tonight. The website said it was successful and the next payment shows that it is $25.

How did you actually do it? Switch phone to Elite, which will change the plan to $35, then just log into account and change it back to $25?

Yeah. My brother was grandfathered but lost it when he switched to the Elite. He logged into his account and changed his plan back and it worked.

I just did it on a new Elite and it worked. Didn't even have to change the plan, it just stayed on the same $25 plan. I'm coming from an OV.

Worked for my Elite, but not my wifes iPhone. Of course she has the $30 plan, since iPhone users get $5 off.

I'm wondering if there's anyone with an Optimus Slider that's been able to confirm the possibility of doing this. If so, my sister can get off of her terrible Rumor Touch...

My Mom is still on pay lo 20cents per min, and the option isn't there, but its not a smart phone. cheap $10 phone.

I would guess that it was some sort of glitch. If it were something that they meant to happen there would have been mention of it on the website or in other advertising.

Agent is right.

Just so ya'll know, if VM figures out the error on their site that allows this, they do have the legal right to backcharge you for monies owed. I doubt they will, but they do have the legal right if they so desired.

Be careful with this one guys.

Nah, seems legit.

Hmmm I'm on a HTC EVO V by me going back to my Triumph the $25 plan will not show up correct?

I don't think any of us know, but I suspect that if you went back to your Triumph the $25 plan would show up. It seems like it should be possible to test, though you would need to use your Triumph for at least a day (since you can only swap phones once a day).

Nah id just call them and have them swap my phone back. I need to have them replace my Triumph anyway cause they sent me it and the earpiece does not work at all.

I question if this is true. It isn't as if some customers don't pay the $25 rate on this plan, so the price isn't an obvious mistake. And it doesn't require using an exploit. The fact that the plan is unadvertised really doesn't mean anything, particularly since they "hide" the rate plan under "I didn't find the plan I'm looking for". This would appear to be an attempt by Virgin Mobile to provide an additional option for those that are unwilling to pay the higher $35 price for an older phone; kind of like if you threaten to cancel your cable (or other) subscription they often try to keep you be offering a discounted rate below what is advertised.

So I'm not sure that Virgin Mobile has a right to backcharge, at least other than the extra $10 and only during the month when you first sign up. Though I will admit, it may depend on the state and how strong the states consumer protection laws are.

My family has 3 optimus slider phones. My wife is on the $45 plan, and my son and I are on the $35 plan. Today I was able to change both of the latter plans to $25 thanks to the guidance in this thread. I won't be billed for another week, and hopefully I will only be billed $25 plus tax.

Hopefully this provides useful info to others.

Just confirming that my two $25 payments went through for my new plan month, saving me a total of $20/month plus sales tax. Pretty nice!

Before I deleted this post previously, this is what I wanted to share:

I was able to get the Evo on the $25 plan. I switched the plan over to $25 last month and while that was pending, I was able to switch to the Evo. Today my month rolled over and still kept the $25 plan.
