Help 2g/3g data

I have turned my data off using wireless settings/Mobile Networks/mms&data but my indicator is still flashing that there is data going backwards and forwards through the phone! IN fact with NO internet browsing, no updates etc 3g watchdog told me that I had used 17Mb by lunchtime! What the hell was it doing?! 17mb?!!

Are your settings turned off in Location also? GPS & Wireless networks still shows active in there for me even if I turn off in Wireless controls.
