According to techradar, if you take a look at the security settings on your Google account, they'll give you 2gb extra storage for free.

2Gb isn't a huge amount, but it's free.

You can backup an unlimited number of Photos to your G+ account, but at a reduced quality/resolution once you exceed your storage allotment.

You can back up an unlimited number of standard size photos and videos for free (standard size means that photos are 2048px or less on the longest edge and videos are less than 15 minutes long and have 1080p resolution or less). Auto Backup is set to back up at full size by default. Learn how to change your back up setting to standard or full size.

If you have your back up setting set to full size, then photos larger than 2048px on the longest edge (full size photos can be no larger than 100 MB) and videos longer than 15 minutes or saved at a resolution higher than 1080p count against your free Google Drive storage quota. but what i read was.
it is free and unlimited as long as:
photos are less than 2048 ppi on the longest size (standard size)
videos are 1080 and shorter than 15mins

if they don't meet the conditions then it will hit against your storage limits.

yes.. if you set it up.. so it is full photos that are larger than 2048 ppi on longest side.
and videos higher res than 1080 and longer than 15 min.
then they apply towards your limit.

once you hit the limit.. it will reset your settings to do
standard photos and video.. so that you can keep adding more media files.

Somebody at The Chocolate Factory needs a few lesson in digital imaging. Photos are never measured in PPI (pixels-per-inch), as that's dependant on the viewing resolution. Images dimensions are in pixels, period.

Edit: Finally showed up on my second account. My calendar must be off, it isn't telling me that today is 2/28
