Hello guys, I am currently using a phone with 1GB RAM. And multitasking is pretty painful when you have two or more tabs in Chrome and playing music in the background. Everything has to redraw even when you have only 2 or 3 apps in the memory.

I was planning to buy Motorola Moto X play which has 2 GB of RAM. Will that be enough for smooth multitasking? My other consideration is the new Oneplus X which offers 3GB of RAM. But it lacks Fast Charging bigger camera, battery, and NFC. The only thing that offers more is the extra 1GB of RAM. Should that be a reason for me to switch to that phone? I'm planning on to use this phone for a pretty long time too! (:

Best Regards

I don't find multitasking a problem on my Note 2 with 2GB RAM as well. I can have Waze and Spotify running at the same time, and take a call without issues.

I think you'd better buy one with a bigger ram since you said you wanted to use it for a long time.

That's something I would like to have! Running just gmaps itself will kill the music in background on my Moto G1. Thanks for the info.

Yeah I was wondering that. But I guess most people are happy with 2GB of RAM.. If Oneplus had a bigger battery and a little more better camera. I would've definitely went with it!

Actually, 1GB of ram is really more than enough on normal multi-tasking as long as you don't clog your phone with apps that notoriously runs on the background. I can play Dungeon Hunter 4 with Darkness Reborn and Tinfoil for Facebook running on the background and can switch without redrawing.

And just right now I'm playing DH 4 with UC Browser and Tinfoil for FB opened and I just switch to both and didn't get a redraw.

Although between the two phone you mention I highly suggest Moto X Play. Can never go wrong with bigger battery.

Exactly! Even though I've greenified most of the unwanted apps. Just running Facebook, messenger and WhatsApp in the background itself will cost around half of the memory! And as we all know Chrome is a memory hugger. My mom's phone has 2 gig of RAM and I just put the phone into a test and surprisingly even though I had 5 tabs open in Chrome with most of the apps that I daily use is running in the background, I didn't see any redraws!

And I agree with the battery! That's the main reason why I'm going with that phone. At the end if the day. Battery is what matters than speed or multitasking ;)
