3 apps that make your life easier

Smithers

Newbie
Here are my thoughts on three apps that would greatly improve the Android experience:

  1. Panorama photo stitching app
I would love to see an app similar to Panoman (Symbian) or Pano (iPhone) on Android devices. C'mon coders, this can't be impossible.

  1. Scripting language for non-experienced coders: I'd love to see a scripting language such as MortScript ported to Android devices. That would allow easy development of simple tools/macros/batches.

  1. Paper Toss: Please bring this 99-in-flash-now-on-iPhone super-classic to Android!

Let me know your ideas for apps that make life easiert? What do you imagine?

Forgot to mention one more thing:

  1. SMS Wipe: If I ever lose my phone or if it gets stolen I'd love to be able sending a text message which triggers a wipe / deletion of all stored data and maybe also locks the phone for further use. Nokia handsets do have that feature on board and the likes of Kaspersky & Co offer it in their security solutions. I did not find a suitable working Android variant so far...

Three apps for me:

(a) Media player that would play AVI files.
(b) Over the air sync with Outlook Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Notes.
(c) Official MSN Messenger app that allows editing contact names, etc.

I beleive their is a panorama app called "Photostitch" on the Android market if you want to give that a go :)

Check out wavesecure. You can remotely back up all your info to the web, and then wipe that data from your phone.

Thanks for your replies! Great community :-)

Regarding photostich:
My Market (using unbranded Motorola Milestone in Germany) does not yield any search results for "photostitch". That's a pitty, because I do not get results for bonsai, blast or bonsaiblast either and I'd love to play it. I guess that's a device limitation just showing compatible apps?
Any workaround known?

Regarding wavesecure:
I read about it too but I'm a little bit curious due to the extensive set of rights I give to the app. Even if I do not use the backup feature which seems to store data at the vendor's servers I'm not exactly sure what the app does in the background. If such an app was issued from a "reputable" vendor such as Symantec, Kaspersky, F-Secure, etc. I'd feel better.

Hi Smithers,
We have some big clients that have done security audits on our software and service to ensure that the data is safe. Here are some of them:-

1. Singtel (singtel.wavesecure.com) - Singtel is the leading telco in Singapore and they provide WaveSecure (rebranded as PHONESafe) to their subscribers.
2. Nokia India (nokia.wavesecure.com) - Nokia bundles WaveSecure to their customers in India as part of their handsets.
3. We have our software deployed with the Singapore government as well.

We hope this will have you the assurance about our commitment of keeping our users' data safe.

Thanks,

Dear chewee,

thanks very much for your reply, I appreciate the open feedback.
I'll give WaveSecure a try and see if the erase/wipe feature works as expected.

Pretty sure there are some apps that do this, one of them I believe is wave secure.
