My carrier is Verizon

I found a phone on Ebay that is cheap, it only comes in 4g (the 3g version is cheaper because f**k logic) so I was wondering if I could put a 3g sim card in it (or will Verizon do it for me for free (the phone is Motorola XT912 Droid Razr)

Also could I take the SIM card out of my current 3g phone and put it in the Motorola and it will be activated when I turn it on?

Or can you just use the 4g phone as-is and put it on a 3g plan with no extra charge

Hi

4g hspa+ is an enhancement of 3g and a 3g sim should work and give 4g speed if it's included in your service - its just a faster network. Assuming same carrier or a carrier unlocked phone.

I believe a 3g sim will not work in a true LTE phone and you would need a new sim. (I think this is what you have found and may be the reason that the 3g ones cost more than the 4g/lte models) Some refer to lte as 4g.
