Help 3G icon on while using wifi

I am seeing the 3g icon in the notification bar while using wifi. It appears sometime shortly after turning on wifi but does not show any activity. wifi is still active and working but the icon is present. I turn wifi off and back on and the 3g icon goes away but reappers in a few minutes. Any ideas or anyone else seeing this??

maybe the wifi sleep is set to 10 min?

Thanks, I did not see an option for a number of minutes but it was set to never so that's not the problem.

Just grabbed a screenshot of what I'm talking about. The phone is actively using the wifi but shows the 3G icon in the notification bar.
