3G in Atlanta

Yes another 3g thread (can you really have too many though). OK so between 2- 4 pm I had no data. I thought metro was tripping again. but @ 430 I noticed the 3g logo and I've had it since then.. with data and all. I've traveled 20 miles from work to home and still have it. Swweeeeetttt. Atlanta btw.

On its definitely capped though as the best I can got with speed test was 220 kbs download speed but it's a very noticeable difference in speed.

Woke up this morning. Still 3g baby

Lucky you ;). Sadly here in Ft. Lauderdale Fl, when the 3g symbol pops up i get no data at all till it switches back to 1x :(. Also the 1x here in Ft. Lauderdale is anywhere from 14kps to 32kps . I am so close to just buying an Optimus T for T-mobile and taking it to Simple mobile. Here in Ft. Lauderdale Simple mobiles 3g gets anywhere from 3mps to 5mps and the 4g they have is around 7mps to 11mps. For $60 a month same as MetroPCS. And you can bring them any GSM phone. I have seen the Opt T at pawnshops here for 40bucks and it cost's 90 to have them Activate the phone with the first month of service. :D

Update.... I came to work and lost 3g for about 10 min. Then it came back and is still running strong

That's good to know. IBM is sending me to Atlanta in December for some training and i'm glad to hear that I'll still be able to get the 3G like I am here in Dallas.

Well after the 3023 update I have full 3G on my Samsung Galaxy Indulge.. it hasn't gone back to 1x since the time I updated it.

To those of you curious, I have 4G turned off as its the biggest battery killer on the Samsung Galaxy Indulge. So I get 12+ hours instead of 4-6 hours like I would when I had 4G Turned on.

I that noticed on my LG Optimus M the 3G does go away and switches to 1x frequently so I am guessing the Samsung Galaxy Indulge has a better CDMA radio and its not just the fault of the towers.

I got excited thinking If I did the upgrade on metros website I would get 3g...so not true. Im also curious as too if you have to be rooted or not

No you don't have to be rooted if you use QPST to change your PRL, but here in Atlanta 3g goes in and out sometimes. Their is a thread explaining how to change your PRL called, Tips UPDATE optimus M prl Using QPST by Santia213. Its very helpful and easy to do. After the last step that it tells you to do, do not touch your phone until it reboots fully 100%

Im convinced, Jonesboro to East Point is swimming in 3g because I havent seen the 1x logo 3 days and counting.

Update.... @ my gf house in decatur and 3g is spotty at best. Had it for 10 seconds. Decatur isn't 3g.... As I'm typing this it came back haha

ok I read it but one question(its kinda stupid but I don't wanna screw up my phone) but do you download the prl on your phone or onto your computer?

What i did was downloaded it to my CPU, cause QPST writes the PRL to your phone. That's not a stupid question at all, we're all here to help each other, and learn from each other. If it's anything you're unsure about don't hesitate to ask.:)
