3G plan gets 4G?

I am very curious to know if I bought a 4G capable phone for retail from a third party would I get 4G coverage with the data plan I am on with my DInc2?

The reason I ask is I want to keep my unlimited data plan but don't need or want to upgrade yet. I mean a data plan is a data plan is a data plan, right?

I don't remember seeing anywhere it specified what level of speeds were covered in the contract...

Does anyone know for sure? Have you tried this? Could you try it please, assuming you have access to a 4g phone?

The unlimited will transfer to the 4G phone. No guarantees as to how long that lasts, though.
