3g Sim in a 2g phone?

I recently tried to update my S3 to Android 4.3, as many people have experienced, it didn't go well. I will be sending my phone to Samsung to get it fixed and it could take anything up to three weeks! :s:

My question is, seeing as I don't currently have a phone, can I use my 3g sim card from my S3 in a cheap 2g phone (with an adapter to make the sim the right size) until I get my Samsung back?

I've done it many times. (4G LTE SIM in a phone so old it was about the first model with a camera. 1G, I think. It still worked as a phone.)

There is no 3G SIM per se. However, it is a micro SIM so a cheap 2G only phone is likely to have a standard SIM (bigger) slot. YOu can get some SIM adapters for a few pence from Amazon etc. - they're just rubber/plastic and you insert your micro SIM into them and slot them home. Sometimes a bit fiddly but always works.
