Help 3G sim in an LTE Device?

Am I able to slap my 3g sim card into a 4g capable device? I don't expect to go 4g by the backdoor of course, just wondered if the thing will run.

As long as the device can still use the 3G network bans/frequencies, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Which phone and network?

7100 LTE note 2, on 3 network.

I thought the LTE model was 7105. I've got that one from Tmobile and I'm not on a 4g plan
