3g update is here

My phone is sim free but i am on O2 why does not kies update or does it know what network you are on.

If so if I put a 3 simm card in my phone will it update???

yeah it depends on the operator, putting a 3g sim card probably wont work as kies will recognized your original firmeware
 
trading standards have contacted O2 on my behalf.

Its their opinion if O2 dont want to support the phone they shouldnt be selling it, I will post an update when they give me one.
 
Hi all,

Currently on 2.3.3 three network version, Have been prompted to upgrade to a new firmware via kies. . . Doesn't tell you if it's 2.3.4/5/6. If it is 6 does anyone have a list of new features or improvements it may have? Better still a tube video.

Haven't really noticed much since I updated if anything slightly faster but it seems to have a lag when unlocking, like it's taking a while to access the memory, Dunno

But My Phone was sim free so has no 02 firmware !!!

I have the 3 sim card if I put it in and it upgrades does the 3 upgrade put any any branding or 3 related apps on ????????

dude chill with the bold typing please.

if kies wont recognize your device or firmware you wont be getting any updates without further de-warranting steps.

if you get a 3g update you will more then likely get the stock apps yes such as 3, 3 favourites, bejewled, breakout,gmail, samsung apps and so on,

to be honest if your happy with what you have dont bother. unless changing from say a 2.x to a 3.x you dont really get much difference. if you have a few bugs like the wifi issue then yeah 2.x to 3.x might be very useful . :D

I noticed that and it is down to wi-fi activating when the screen unlocks. Only way I know to fix it is to change the settings to have wi-fi always on, even when the screen is off.

to be 100% honest, i am getting abit annoyed at updating to find not very much has changed except i have all the crap stock apps back and all the apps i didnt want updated...updated,.,ie youtube gmaps,. updates are abit rubbish lately
 
Settings > Wireless and networks > Wi-Fi settings
The press the menu key and select Advanced > Wi-Fi sleep policy
 
you know honestly with every upate i seem to aquire a diferent lag.

first it lagged switching wifi,

fixed....but then lag unlocking,i


fixed but then lag bringing up sms

fixed but then lag trying to open gallery

fixed but now i got the most annoying lag of all time,. lag when trying to access the dialer..,...yeah my phone now lags like a mofo when i click the phone icon. it goes blank screen with the top bar for about 15 seconds.....this is rubbish really i mean smartphone...that lags opening the call log? 3 come on sort it out stop shoving the lag around and just knock it out the phone for chismays sake lol
 
I get small lag now accessing sms, which seems ridicolous considering the processing pwoer compared to non smartphones. Granted it snot hideous but is noticeable slighty. On the stock sms app I had massive 10+ second lag everytime I wanted to compose a sms as well.
 
Glad I have not switched back. Running Jusada's Ice Cream Sunday FINAL (with my own tweaks :) ) and have ABSOLUTELY NO BUGS whatsoever.

Its based on CM 7.2 (2.3.7) - Quadrant scores 1950+ (not overclocked), GPS locks in 5 seconds and everything buttery smooth!
 
hi.i am in india my phone is from singapore . today i upgraded the firmware through kies from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6.basevband-S5830xwkt3: kernel version-2.6.35.7-perf-CL 787041 root@DELL86#1: build no GINGERBREAD xwkt7: now wifi is not working.no sim card. Not rooted and do not want to . the broadband connection works fine on my PC. the phone tries to connect then i get a message :disabled,secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK. again tries connecting. contacted the broadband provider he says that it is not their fault since the bb works fine on PC. so it is the fault of the software. any advice is appreciated. am complete zero on technical matters. should i go back to 2.3.3? if so how step by step guide would be very much helpful and much appreciated. thanks in advance. sorry for the caps. broadband service provider BSNL. In chennai-india
