Help 3g watchdog

Hello,
just joined the forum just bought a samsung galaxy sand new to sgs and androids.
To keep a check on my allowance usage want to use an indicator, 3g watchdog was suggested but noticed that their requirements state
`allow this application to access...
system tools (prevent phone from sleeping)
storage (modify or delete sd card contents)
is this wise to accept, why would they need to tamper with the sd card.
any comments welcome.

Hello,

I'm the developer of 3G Watchdog.

The app needs to access the SD card to store backups of your usage history + settings (backup/restore feature), and to store CSV exports of usage history (if you ask for them). The "prevent phone from sleeping" is used once a day at midnight for less than 10 seconds.

thanks for that Richard, just installed it.
couple of questions if I may....
3g icon at top of screen shows approx 50% used but detail shows nothing used.
cant `click` auto disable 3g.
what do `via apndroid and via juice defender signify, both active and cant change (assuming I want to)
I assume 3g is only switched on when checking, but how to switch off if auto is non operable.
Obviously I download using wifi when possible.
