4.3 to 4.4.2 on rooted phone accept?

Just got the notification on my phone saying that it wants to update to 4.4.2. Currently my phone is on 4.3, Verizon, and rooted. I use foxfi to tether, cause it's the only option that I know of. What I want to know is should I update my phone? I don't want to lose the ability to tether. I have unlimited data still, so I either have to use an app like foxfi, or pay $30 a month to make my phone a hotspot. Suggestions for updating and if so does foxfi still work on 4.4.2 or are there alternatives to foxfi that I'm unaware of?? Thanks to anyone who can help!!!

I know that updating will lose you root. Now whether a rooting method for your Verizon phone on 4.4.2 and a method of tethering is available I could not tell you.

Do you know how to at least get rid of the notification telling me to update? I'm fine with staying with 4.3. Just want to get rid of the pesty notification trying to get me to update every time I turn my phone screen on.

I was on 4.3 and got the update this morning.

A year or so ago...I had rooted....kept it a while...then unrooted.

when I accepted the update this morning....it gave me a horrendous error message.

"unauthorized software found on your phone (kernel)...shut down and go a verizon store for help".

Ok....I'll just do a factory reset.....NOPE.....won't take it. so basically I have a brick.

They are sending out a new phone tomorrow.
