4.4.3 problems. Post them here

Alright, I got it working for now. We'll see how it holds out. Here's what I had to do before it would work.

Step 1 - Unpair all involved devices. In my case this was my phone, my stereo, and my bluetooth earbuds. By Unpair, I mean delete them from the pairing list on every device, not just have them disconnected.

Step 2 - Factory Reset all involved devices. Every single one.

Step 3 - Re-pair, re-connect, and all good to go.

My bluetooth has been disconnecting and reconnecting during my phone conversations. Very annoying. I read the posts above but I do not want to go through the pain in the ass of a factory reset. I guess I will try unpairing and re-pairing to see if that helps.

Does battery doctor tell you what's eating up battery?

If not I'd recommend betterbatterystats or gsam battery monitor from the play store

I'd also backup whatever you can in case a factory reset it required

You would have to root I think to re-install 4.4.2, but I wouldn't go there just yet. Try doing a soft reset a couple of times before going to a factory reset. A soft reset is a simulated battery pull. This is done by holding the power button (ignore the shut down menu) until the N5 spontaneously shuts off. It will then spontaneously reboot as well. It will aoften fix things that are flaky on the phone, particularly power issues.

Before doing this, make sure all the settings you used before weren't reset by the update. I tend to set location stuff to battery saving, turn off hot-word recognition, and such. Whatever you had things set at when you were getting god battery life on 4.4.2, make sure they are the same.

Obviously, as raised in that thread you linked, when a new version first comes out, there is always the danger that some apps you were using before are no longer compatible until the developer fixes them, but a soft reset should help.

I had issues with battery life for my first few days with 4.4.3; my AndroidOS was using over 30% of my battery. My problems went away with some of the app updates, particularly Chrome. So, obviously, make sure all your apps are up to date.

whenever i use google search i get a "cant load search results" this is a huge bug and need it fixed..anyone else having the same problem?

I really don't think the google now search problem is related to 4.4.3...I know of people on lower versions of KitKat experiencing the same issue.

Clearing the cache/data in the Google Search app has been known to resolve the problem.

If you go to your device's battery meter in settings, what service or app is taking up the most battery? Or does it look pretty normal?

Yeah that part was pretty normal. That's what I was trying to say with "no awake time" but I wasn't being very clear. so far today google play services has used more battery than usual but it hasn't been obscene.

If you aren't rooted there's no need to backup anything. Your data will not get wiped during the OTA update process.

The update will check the system parts of your phone before applying to make sure it will all go smoothly.

If it finds an issue, the update will abort and you still shouldn't lose any data.

However. you can always back things up just in case using the helium app :

I tried what u recommended. A couple of soft resets followed by a factory reset. This did not solve the issue. The battery seemed to do a bit better but nowhere close to what I was getting in 4.4.2.
The reason for a comparable better performance might be the fact that the system did not have any apps (very few apps) in it and thus had a better battery life.

Tonight I'll be monitoring the system with battery doctor uninstalled from the system and only having apps that come with the stock OS. I have updated all the apps in the system to their versions.

Lets see how the battery performs.

I really dislike how these updates are affecting the all the same phone differently. It does seem unreliable, but some people are having no problems at all with the update. Where did you purchase your phone from? Perhaps you should look into a replacement.

It's really strange how some people are saying battery life is worse. Mine is running perfectly so far and with very good idle drain.

Turns out in my case my network have been having problems (Three, UK)

Took them days to admit it but fixed it now and my phone is again perfect (the issue of battery drain and data not working/poor signal were all linked)

I suspect this is the reason that 4.4.3 took so long to release. I wonder, if 4.5 wasn't going to be announced next week, if 4.4.3 would have been released.

My hope is that 4.5 is released soon and is more stable -- at least from the standpoint that it is a much smoother install for most.
