4.4GB used by Google Dialer

Apache

I went way over on data last month. The culprit appears to be...

153MB Foreground, 4.36GB Background Data usage by Google Dialer

My bro has the same device and similar usage pattern, and his Google Dialer for the same period only used 25KB and 1.8KB respectively -- i.e. an order of magnitude less.

What's the deal? Thanks,

Wow that is a lot of data. I'd suggest going through each of your apps one by one (with your brother doing the same) to check what apps you have and he doesn't, and consequently see if those apps could be using the dialer (not sure what the specific permission is).

Do you have Xposed Framework and AppOps? If you did identify an app that was using the dialer but wanted to keep it, you could change its permissions with AppOps.

That is a good idea, I'm waiting to get his list of apps to compare to mine.

I do not have Xposed Framework or ApOps, but I'd just as soon delete a rogue app if I found it.

Interestingly, about half way into this billing cycle, Google Dialer has only used 231KB, which I assume is normal.

Try an app called app brain to share your installed app lists.

Post a link and we might spot something. Also try installing Lookout to scan for malware
