Root 4ext to install rom

I have used Cwm and swapped roms loads of times with no problems , I have installed 4ext and have tried to install 2roms cyanogenmod10 and miui both times they just got stuck and boot looped , I knew which order to do everything when I used Cwm , I may have missed something now I am using 4ext recovery , can someone list which options I need to complete before flashing the rom or can I remove 4ext easily and go back to Cwm ????

Never had a problem flashing ROMs with 4Ext. Procedure should just be: boot into recovery, take a nandroid, wipe user data/factory reset (in the wipe | format menu), install from sd, reboot. You can wipe /data, /cache, /sd-ext, .android_secure separately if you want, but the factory reset should do all of that.

If a ROM requires SD partitions you should set that up first. And if you are using a custom hboot (or mtd) make sure the ROM fits in your /system partition (that "CM10" beta requires stock partitions I believe).

Assuming you are S-Off (almost all 4Ext users are) then you can easily change recovery: download the recovery.img of your choice and fastboot flash it - see the adb and fastboot faq for more detail. But it shouldn't be necessary.
