4G and Buildings

For the longest time, I have had little to no data access in my office. Finally someone (not sure if it was US Cell rep or someone else) told me that 4G does not do well going thru bldgs. He recommended I change my settings to CDMA only. I did this and while not a huge improvement, it was more than enough to work with. So... WHAT is the point about bragging up 4G and LTE if this is how it's going to work?

It's a problem for sure. The frequencies used are not great for building penetration.

Well, unless I'm standing under a 4G tower, I might as well just stick with my 3g. At least it's reliable and probably takes less battery too. That whole 4G thing was really starting to get on my last nerve. You would think being in the heart of Milwaukee would be sufficient. Apparently not. :( So exactly why do people sings it's praises if this is how it performs? Do these people stand outside all day? Just wondering.

At least you have it! Just being launched in the UK and only in 13 cities for the time being. It's also very expensive...no thanks!

Sorry for your troubles. Running AT&T LTE at home and in the office building no problem. I'm also in Philadelphia so it can also be dependent upon the buildup of your carriers LTE in your city.

Well if you can't do it right then don't do it at all. Why say a city has 4G if the coverage in that city is spotty? Of course, it seems to be decent everywhere so long as I'm not in a bldg. What's up with that?

In general, higher frequency RF wave will be harder to penetrate buildings than lower frequency. Maybe that's one of the reasons why Verizon, at&t use 700Mhz bands for their LTE network. I'm not sure what frequency US Cell is using. There are dozen of LTE frequency bands from 700Mhz to 2600Mhz. Also quality/strength of network coverage matters a lot.
