Root 4G and things I should know already.

What is the exact thing I do to turn 4G, and 4G alone, on and off?

Do "background data" "and wifi have something to do directly with 4G?

and lastly, is there an app that will simply allow me to toggle 4G on or off?

thanks!

No they don't have anything to to directly do with 4G. background data is meant for apps that are minimized and running in the background to use data and allow it to access internets while not immediately open.

To keep 1xrtt data instead of 4g, you would dial *#*#4636#*#* followed by the call button. From the menu click on phone information. Then scroll down and set "CDMA auto" for the network type. Reboot.

To enable 4G again repeat the same process except select "CDMA/LTE/EvDO auto" and reboot.

Not sure if there is an easier way that still enables data.

** edit: Switching to 1x (cdma auto prl) does not require a reboot. Just turn off radio with the button on that screen and then turn the radio back on. 4G doesn't seem to take without a reboot.

Yes, download AnyCut from the market. create a shortcut on true desktop for the application MetroPCS hidden Menu. open that shortcut and open... I forget. will post more instructions after the Super Bowl.

I've toyed with the hidden menu, and there doesn't seem to be any way to disable the 4g only. I tried setting to cdma mode and I completely lost my data connection

Hmmm, did u reboot after that? I though it worked for me after a reboot last night but I was so intensified getting the ITS USB modemso I may bag been seeing things. try a reboot after setting it to CDMA only and then a reboot and try that. let is knowbifbi was crazy last night or if I am okay LoL after seeing that uu said that I think I kayhave been too tired and concentrated on something.

Every time I changed it, it reboot on is own. Tried cdma only, then hybrid manual. Got excited when I saw Verizon as the network I could connect to, but it looks like it was still metro, based on the speeds. Metro wasn't even on the list so I'm pretty sure it was metro and they just didn't bother renaming it (since we shouldn't be in this menu anyway). Then switched back to hybrid auto

Wellremember what u did and how.u did. me and Shiny may work with this info and see what we can't figure.out if we for the need/want to see what its about.
