4G keeps dropping off

For the past week or more, I notice my S4 is on 3G, even though I'm in an area with a strong 4G signal. I can restart the phone and it goes right back to a strong 4G signal. This has happened too often recently ,even though I've seen it do it since I first got the S4. And when the 4G signal drops, the battery usage goes way up.

Any suggestions?
