4G LTE vs 3G dBm difference

I'm on Verizon's network and these readings from my GS3 are typical at my house. The 3G and 1x match those from my previous Motorola X2.
4G LTE -111 dBm
3G -94 dBm
1x -93 dBm
I can place calls, send texts, and use data with no problems. I was just curious as to why the big difference between 4G LTE and 3G.

I'm not sure why you are seeing a difference between 4G and 3G. My understanding has always been that 4G is only data. All calls go through 3G. That is why with CDMA LTE phones you can do talk and data at the same time.
