4G speed issues - not connectivity

Every few days I have been noticing that my 4G speeds go in the toilet. If I reboot the phone the speeds go back up to normal. I never lose connectivity completely it just gets really slow. Reboot and it intermediately goes back to normal.

Speed test is showing an average of 0.65Mbps down and 1.2Mbps up before the reboot and and average of 11.5Mbps down and 14.5Mbps up after the reboot. That's running 3 tests before and 3 tests after the reboot.

Any ideas why?

Okay, downloaded the app and will give it a try. I've been noticing for a couple weeks now that the 4G speed seems to be dropping down to about 150-500kbps down and 400kbps during the day instead of 10,000+kbps down and 10,000+kbps up. At a good time can get up to about 18,000kbps down and 17,000kbps up but its pretty rare anymore.

Have spoken with Verizon Wireless on the phone, at the store, and in email and basically everyone says they aren't sure whats up but to first, shut off the phone, pull the SIM card, wait 5 seconds, put the SIM card back in and power back up. That hasn't worked. Next thing they said was go into the Settings, Wireless & Networks Settings, Mobile Networks, and change the Network Mode from CDMA/LTE to CDMA only for a couple minutes. You'd see it go from 4G to 3G at that point. And then switch back to CDMA/LTE and let it connect to the 4G network again. Sadly that only worked once. The nice part about that was when I checked my speeds I was at 21,000kbps down and 19,000kbps up. Would love to have that all day every day.

Since then Verizon Wireless has placed the blame on applications. I attempted to removed one app at a time until I found the culprit but no luck. So I did a hard reset and started from scratch. I speed tested after each app I reinstalled and found one app that regardless of how many times I installed and deleted, when it was on my phone it would cut speeds from 15,000kbps down to 6,500kbps down and 13,000kbps up down to 4,000kbps up. I have since contacted the app designer and waiting for their response.

However, I do NOT believe that is the sole problem. I have noticed with my phone and my friend's phone that the 4G speeds in my area are drasticly cut from about 4:30am to about 7pm PST. Now if I can just get Verizon to admit it and explain why cause it's BS.

Done, will update in a few days to see if the issue repeats.

FYI - I have never used any task killer or battery saver apps on this phone.

Didn't work. Still slows to a crawl every other day or so. Reboot and it goes right back to lightening fast.

I've ran speed tests before and after running Motorola's restoration app, and even after powering off, pulling SIM card, and putting it back in and rebooting. During the day been finally getting up to 1,700kbps download and 2,000kbps upload on a good day after that, and between 7,000-10,000kbps download and upload at night. Still seeing speeds drop drastically and connections lost multiple times between 4am and 7pm PST. Definitely sucks.

Having said that, I have to admit the last three days speeds have improved slightly during the day, but connectivity still sucks at times.

Your issue is in the tower that you're bouncing off of. When you reboot your device, you re-register your device with that tower and the network. Vzw has likely changed the way our devices register with the network.. (again) not drastically, but enough to start the dreaded data drop issue again.

Hope this helps :)

I have been fine for the past 12 days. Haven't rebooted and haven't had an issue.

I don't know if the above mentioned app did the trick as I did have the problem for a few days after but it seems to have completely cleared up.
