500mb extremely high data usage android os on galaxy s2

so frustrated im not far into the month and hav'nt used this much data, but my phone says ive used 500mb out of 1.5 gig only on android operating system(os).
is there anyone who can help ?! so frustrated :musicus::turtle:
 
Hello and welcome to the forums - thanks for joining!

The Android OS wouldn't be using your data... it could be that there is an app that is running in the background and doing that... the easiest way to stop this happening (in the first instance) would be to turn off mobile data when you don't need it... hit "menu=>settings=>mobile networks" and uncheck "data enabled" (please note that this is all from memory, as I do not have my phone on me and I also have custom firmware on my phone).
