5ghz n1

What am I looking at?
Some random post that mentions someone allegedly o/cing an N1 to 5GHz?
Sorry, but I call bullshit.
There is nothing in that link that leads me to believe that this is legit.
Am I missing something here?

Uhh... who is he?
The general litmus test for something like this is a benchmark.
The link only shows someone typing, "HAY, I got 5 GHz!!!"

Most readers here aren't unfamiliar with o/cing a cpu. We have a general idea of what's possible and what isn't.

25-50%: OK, I'll take that at face value.
75-100%: Wow! Impressive, but I suppose it's plausible.
125-200%: Hmm, I dunno...
500%: Just because you said you did it?.... No.

VERY doubtful.
The core clock speed is generally a multiplier of the system bus speed. These multipliers are fixed and you can't just OC to whatever speed you want.
Say the system bus is 250MHz, the multiplier would be x4, giving the stock core speed of 1GHz. It is concievable that there is selectable multipliers, maybe x5 or even x6, and it is possible to jack the system bus a little, maybe to even 350MHz, but even at this, the maximum possible core speed is <2GHz, and at that, I would question stability. Its not just about cooling... memory is meant to switch at a certain speed... you might be able to push it ~10 %, but no more... the cells simply don't write at higher speeds.

In layman's terms, BS.
