64gb Micro SD work on phone?

Simple, Just use " THE CLOUD " You won't need to fill your memory up anymore. Store all your photo's, music, video's, and data on the net and retrieve when you want. Memory on phones will be a thing of the past.

@Pepee63 - lets see your battery last as long as mine when you stream 20gb music collection from SkyAMP while I play music from a 32gb card. Thing is, cloud isnt so great when it comes to certain things.

@Peepee63: That'll also be great when the cloud is available anywhere and everywhere, on demand. I have relatives who live literally in the middle of nowhere. And there's no signal, no internet connection... no cloud. I want my stuff with me, at all times, in all places.

And that's in addition to ChanChan's point about streaming: if you're on tiered data, your SOL. Even if you're grandfathered in to unlimited: use too much too fast and they throttle you.

The world is simply not ready for cloud computing yet.

Well I know what I am putting on my xmas card list! I nearly have my 32g card full with music (never thought I'd get near filling it when I bought it!) and have had to start rotating in and out albums on my phone but it's not ideal because ideally I want to be able to choose what I want to listen to when I want (in car, at home etc). I was, reluctantly, considering buying an mp3 but now i'll just go for one of these cards :)

GULP: just seen the price of these! Think I may be waiting for a while or going with a touch screen MP3 player.

Anyone else get one of these cards yet besides the OP? Between the eleven 3D games and nine feature length 3D movies I have on my 3DVO, my 32gig card is maxed out.

I definitely hope so. Not sure if anything special had to be done when 32's hit the market....
It is quite likely to be a compatibility issue. I recall when 4GB SD's wouldn't work in "older" devices like my not-so-old digital camera. 2GB was the max because of the way it was formatted. Now the product manufacturers are saying the same thing about the 64GB and micro-64GB devices. The chip works fine. The issue is will it work in your stuff or do you have to get new stuff.

I'll be testing this out if it works on the MoPho soon:

SDSDQY-064G-A11A SanDisk 64GB Mobile Ultra microSDHC, up to 30 MB/Sec, Enabled Class 6 Memory Card with SD Adapter

For $79.95, that's probably the best price that'll be available for a while, until the 128gb cards are made/released (who knows when that will be). Nontheless, if it doesn't work, I'll just fall back to my Lexar (Class 10) 32gb.

Hopefully, it'll become a standard in future phones to accept the micro SDXC cards (if it doesn't end up working this time around).

Happy to report, 64gb microSD formatted fine (59gb available). Already had 26gb of 29gb available loaded on my 32gb microSD. I'll have to put another 6gb of music on the card, but that may take some time.

I'll reply incase anyone finds this thread with the same question.

It does work in Motorola Bionic. If one does buy this 64 gig card, it give an error that the card is damaged. Just go into settings and format the card and it should be recognized after the formatting.

That's how it worked for me. :)

Yup. Same exact process I followed.

Hey people, I am just wanting some opinions from those clever people out there regarding this new microSD card that is about to launch.
I am currently using an HTC Legend with a 32gb (Class 10) Lexar MicroSD card in it and it works just fine... There are a lot of posts elsewhere that say that these smart phones will not cope with more than 16gb microSD cards and thus will not put up with 64gb. As my little Legend can cope with 32gb should it be able to handle the 64gb when it arrives on sale?
thanks so much for your time ;)
Interesting thread. It is possible to use a 64 GB microSD card on an Android device. I actually just recently posted a short video on YouTube that shows how to do it. I will post it in another response.

I want a 64gb Micro SD Class 10 Card
& what brand is Fastest ?
is there a Class 12

Just to let you know The lower class cards 4 and 6 are faster than class 10's at transferring smaller files. Class 10's are faster than 4 and 6 at transferring very large files like HD videos. Sandisk IMO are the best out there. And no there are no class 12's out there that I am aware of.

I just put that Amazon Sandisk 64gb micro SD in my Galaxy S+ and it's working fine. Moved as many apps as I could, put on 50gb of music, and still have 7-8 gb of free space.

Ok, my question is, how hard is it to then transfer the contents of your old Thunderbolt's micro SD card to the new? And does it acclimatize itself easily enough?

If you know how to use a PC or Mac and know how to copy and paste files...should be a pretty straight forward process.

Since the most successful stories for using the 64gb microSDXC have been from formatting the card in the actual phone, just make sure that you've copied all the files on your current microSD onto a computer that you can later transfer back onto the 64gb microSDXC (after you've formatted the card in your phone).
